REX-aire
Reverse Air

The REX-aire reverse air collectors for negative pressure applications (i.e. fan is on the outlet side) come standard as welded modules or, for larger collectors, as panel construction. For pressure applications, custom designed frame & sheeting designs are available. The designs include a multitude of bag arrays with 144 up to 400 bags per compartment. Bags are woven fabric and are supplied in standard diameters of 6" or 8" or 12" with lengths of 10' to 33'.

The bags are installed into the cell plate at the hopper level with stainless steel snap band sewn into a double beaded cuff to ensure a tight and leak fee seal. The bag has a top cuff which fits into a steel cap for bag suspension. The bag is suspended by a chain and spring assembly. The chain is pulled through a suspension hole, which compresses the spring and tensions the bag. Once pulled to the correct bag tension the chain is locked into place with a spring clip.

All Rex-pulse collectors are designed to withstand the design suction/pressure and temperatures up to 500°F.

REX-aire - Operation
The dust laden air enters the collector through the hopper or housing section.

The dust laden air is distributed by an inlet baffle to reduce the air velocity and distribute the air flow which creates a uniform flow. The dust is deposited on the interior surface of the bag as the air passes through the bag and is exhausted through the collectors outlet manifold. The bags are typically woven fabric and are held open by the air pressure.

Once a sufficient thickness (cake) of dust is built up, on the inside the bag, the dust is removed by isolation of the bag compartment and reversing of the air flow at a very small pressure and volume. The bag collapses and the duct cake is released into the hopper. The bags included rings and proportional spacing to prevent the bag from completely collapsing which would prevent the dust from falling through the bag. The reverse air timing is controlled by a timer or optionally by a controller that cleans the bags only when the dust cake is sufficiently thick (by measuring the pressure across the collector).

The dust that falls into the hopper is removed by material handling equipment. Efficiencies up to 99.9% are achievable.
